Many Users Unable to Join Meetings; Website Fails to Load for Some
Google Meet, one of India’s most actively used video-conferencing platforms for online classes, corporate meetings, interviews and virtual events, experienced a short outage on Wednesday, November 26, 2025. The issue led to connectivity errors and prevented users from joining scheduled calls.
According to reports, several users were unable to load the Google Meet webpage, while others received constant error prompts while joining meetings. Some complained that the app showed blank screens, and a few mentioned that meetings would not connect even after repeated attempts.
User Complaints Spike During Peak Hours
Outage monitoring site Downdetector recorded more than 1,500 user reports from India at the peak of the disruption. The incoming complaints highlighted three major problem areas — website failures, connection issues, and disruptions in video performance.
Breakdown of Google Meet Issues Reported in India
| Problem Type | Percentage of Complaints |
|---|---|
| Website Not Loading | 66% |
| Server Connectivity Issues | 32% |
| Video Quality Problems | 1% |
| Other | 1% |
Users from metropolitan cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, and Kolkata appeared to be the most affected, although complaints came from various regions across the country. The outage impacted both personal Gmail accounts as well as enterprise users using Google Workspace.
Social Media Flooded With Reactions
Within minutes of the disruption, social media platforms such as X (formerly Twitter), Threads, and Instagram saw a flood of users posting their service complaints. Students attending live online classes and professionals in mid-presentation faced sudden interruptions.
One frustrated user on X wrote:
“Is anyone else experiencing issues with Google Meet today? Unable to join meetings. #GoogleMeetDown”
Another user claimed that job interviews were halted because the meeting links would not load. Memes and witty posts also followed, reflecting how essential video platforms have become in daily life.
Google Yet to Issue Detailed Statement
At the time of publishing, Google had not released a detailed explanation about what caused the outage. Typically, such disruptions are linked to server overload, network routing errors, or backend software updates, but the company has not officially confirmed any cause.

Google has a history of closely monitoring outages and restoring services swiftly, and this instance also resolved within a short duration. However, the incident has raised questions regarding the stability of large-scale video communication tools during high-traffic hours.
Context: Recent Internet Infrastructure Issues Worldwide
The Google Meet disruption came just days after a major global incident involving Cloudflare, a well-known network and web infrastructure company. The outage temporarily affected several prominent platforms including X, Canva and ChatGPT.
Cloudflare Global Outage: Quick Summary
| Affected Services | Issue Type | Response |
|---|---|---|
| X (Twitter), Canva, ChatGPT, Others | Global Downtime | Resolved within hours |
| Root Cause | Network Configuration Error | Confirmed by CTO |
| Public Statement | “We failed our customers and the broader Internet.” – CTO Dane Knecht | Issued Report |
Cloudflare later admitted that the incident stemmed from a technical misconfiguration and emphasized the need for major infrastructure platforms to remain reliable.
Impact of Outages on Digital Work Culture
With online communication now at the core of corporate workflows and education, even a short technical outage can:
- Disrupt business operations
- Delay virtual interviews and hiring
- Interrupt live online classes
- Slow project discussions
- Affect remote work productivity
The Google Meet glitch once again highlights the dependency on digital collaboration tools, and how crucial uninterrupted service has become in the hybrid work era.
The brief outage on Google Meet caused significant inconvenience to thousands of users in India, especially during working hours. Although the issue was resolved quickly, the lack of an immediate explanation from Google leaves room for speculation. With major digital platforms relying heavily on cloud infrastructure, ensuring consistent uptime remains a key challenge for tech giants.
